MAIN CALIBRATION
Selecting Main Calibration from the Calibration manager menu gives access to the calibration containing data for the engine calibration for all EFI Technology systems.
Since each version of EFI Technology ECUs uses a different communication ID, it is important to specify with which ECU you want to communicate. Select the correct type of ECU in the upper window.
The list of available devices includes only the devices for which it is possible to edit calibrations.
To allow ECT to edit calibrations you must configure the database in the memory map section. Setting the configuration parameters in the memory map requires a thorough understanding of the functioning of the ECU, and is usually managed by by EFI’s engineers.
To allow ECT to edit the engine/main calibration, you must configure the device database using the deviceeditor. In particular you must:
-
Define a descriptor for the engine/main calibration in the section ‘Calibration parameters’ .
-
Define an area of memory for the engine/main calibration in the memory map.
-
ECT calibration file format
-
Readable by application sw
-
Editable
-
In the ‘Mode’ section you can choose whether to load the calibration from ECU or from file.
Loading control from ECU – online mode:
Selecting this mode ECT starts to monitor the status of the PC-ECU communication that is shown in the statusbar. An error status is evidenced by a yellow background.
To update the list of the calibrations available on the ECU use the refresh command next to the pull-down list. If the device works properly, the pull-down list located between the On-Line option and the refresh command, will populate with the names of the calibrations available on the control unit.
Use the pull-down list to select the calibration that will be loaded immediately.
Loading from file:
Selecting this mode ECT will disable the automatic monitoring of the status of communication.
Use the browse command next to the file option to select the TAB (default extension). BIN,. S19 (Motorola). S28 (Motorola). S37 (Motorola) file to load.
You can also load a calibration file using the appropriate menu item.
If the device has more than 1 descriptor for the main calibrations, you will be asked to specify the descriptor you want to use to parse the calibration.
SETUP CALIBRATION
By selecting ‘Setup calibration’ from ‘Calibration manager’ menu you can view and edit data of the setup calibration.
Loading a setup calibration setup is similar to loading a main calibration with some differences:
-
the default file extension is ECF .
-
The descriptors that can be used are those defined for the Setup calibrations.
- an address can be set in the database to reset the control unit. If the address is set, at the end of the work session the application asks the user if he wants to reset the control unit to apply the changes.
LEARN CALIBRATION
By selecting ‘Learn calibration’ from ‘Calibration manager’ menu you can view and edit data of the learn calibration.
Loading a learn calibration is similar to loading a main calibration with some differences:
-
the default file extension is LRN
-
the descriptors that can be used are those defined for the Learn calibrations.
-
you cannot edit the calibration On-line
